A 7-acre Park and Ride site was purchased by the Economic Development Authority (EDA) of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota in 2018. After numerous engagement sessions with members of the community, a request for qualifications was issued by the EDA, seeking out a new vision for the vacant site. Cardo’s master plan, in partnership with MVP Development, Design by Melo, and Good Neighbor Homes, was selected from 7 proposals. The master plan is mixed-use, walkable, and responsive to the community’s larger goals. 132 units, 32 of which are for-sale, are organized around a central park, steps from 20,000 square feet of commercial space. What separated the plan from others was a clear desire to design for the pedestrian first, and the car second.
